This weekend Palma's port saw a lot of huge cruising vessels visiting the island, among them the INDEPENDENCE OF THE SEAS, the AIDA VITA and the NORWEGIAN EPIC. Tracking the vessels on the website of MARINE TRAFFIC in order to know when to go and shoot photos, I searched for something similar for airplanes and I found FLIGHT RADAR 24.

This website actually screens up to 500 aircraft at once on a map based on Google Maps and you can zoom in to see only the aircraft in the Balearic airspace. I find this quite a nice feature as it allows to check on the realtime landing time of a flight, which gives you some autonomy over the delayed information posted on other websites. Also it  is a great feature for those who intend to spot aircraft arriving or departing from Palma's airport Son Sant Joan.

The update frequency is pretty good and you can even track back flights and flight paths several days. However, in order to be able to use all features you would have to sign up for a Pro account which is not free anymore.

Anyway, a nice site and it works on iPhones as well as Android phones too, though with some limitations.
